It's Time for Some (name) Changes

Starting July 2nd 2020 Fed-ex asked the NFL football team "Washinton Redskins" to change its name or they will pull sponsorship from team stadium.

"We have communicated to the Team in Washington our request that they change the team name."

With this being the start of hopefully something new across who's next to change their name?

The "Cleveland Indians" this has been an age-old debate for as long as i can remember growing up in northeast Ohio. Every Opening Day there were protestors that would line the streets requesting a name change. I never understood why it was offensive. up until about two years ago when I had a friend sit down and explain why its all very rude and in desperate need of change. That's when it all clicked for me that something needed to change. Today ( July 3rd, 2020) the Indians announced they are seeking and conversing a new name.

With them seeking other options whats next? Which team is next to come to their senses and change their name or logo?

Here are some concept ideas on what a fan (unknown) thought the new logo and name should be!

In this you can see the name and logo was changed to be the Cleveland spiders which to me seems pretty cool, I liked how the artist stuck to the original designs and colors. there have been numerous names brought into such as the Cleveland Buckeyes, Sentinels, Bulldogs, Rockers, Guardians, and the Blue Sox. My personal favorite is tied between the bulldogs and the spiders.

I hope we see more of this trend and hold these sports clubs accountable to make the right decision. At the end of the day its just a name if someone finds it offensive then I don't see why it can't be changed. Not only will it make the fans happier but it will support a cause that needs all the help it can get.

As always, until next time.
